Malvern Health is proud to announce that Dr. Joseph Garbely has been named as the Medical Director of our new Ford Road facility. Dr. Garbely is responsible for the medical oversight of our 108-bed addiction treatment facility where he leads a multidisciplinary team dedicated to holistic, patient-centered care.
Dr. Garbely is a distinguished physician with over 29 years of experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, and internal medicine. Triple board-certified in internal medicine, psychiatry, and addiction medicine, Dr. Garbely has built a career focused on improving outcomes for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. His approach emphasizes collaborative care and evidence-based treatment strategies tailored to the unique needs of each patient.
His academic contributions are equally notable—he is a Clinical Associate Professor at Penn State College of Medicine and an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Garbely is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), where he serves as Chair of the Physician in Training Committee and as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine and has played a key role in shaping the next generation of addiction medicine specialists.
